About The Position

The Salvation Army Thrift Store is seeking a friendly, dependable Retail Sales Associate to provide customer service, maintain an organized store, and create a welcoming shopping experience for customers and donors. The role supports the store’s daily sales and production goals while helping turn donations into funding for community programs.

The position is part-time, with a schedule of 20 to 24 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Paid training on register and store procedures is provided, along with ongoing coaching and support from store leadership. The role offers an opportunity to build retail and customer service skills.

Requirements

• Ability to provide friendly customer service.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Basic communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift.
• Ability to bend, reach, and lift or move merchandise throughout the day.
• High school diploma or currently pursuing.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail, cashier, customer service, or thrift store experience.
• Experience using a point of sale system.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful service.
• Operate the register and accurately process sales transactions.
• Help open, close, and balance the register as assigned.
• Restock merchandise and keep displays neat and easy to shop.
• Help sort, prepare, and move merchandise to the sales floor.
• Keep the store clean, safe, and organized.
• Work with team members to support daily sales and production goals.
