About The Position

Kelley’s Market is hiring Retail Sales Associates to provide friendly customer service and help keep its convenience store running smoothly. The hands-on role includes cashiering, stocking shelves and coolers, maintaining clean and welcoming store areas, and supporting daily operations. Associates may work in the Kelley’s Café and, where applicable, clean fuel pumps and the car wash. The position is available full-time or part-time at Kelley’s Market | Orlando, 9915 Orlando St, Machesney Park, IL 61115. Pay is $15–$18 per hour based on relevant experience, knowledge, skills, education, and certifications, with an additional $3 per hour for work between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Benefit eligibility and waiting periods vary by benefit, position, hours worked, and length of employment.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Provide friendly, dependable customer service in a busy retail environment.
• Communicate clearly and work effectively with team members and store leadership.
• Use basic math skills to handle cash and process transactions accurately.
• Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Stand for extended periods, frequently lift up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work in coolers, freezers, and outdoor conditions.
• Obtain an alcohol sales operator license where required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous work in retail, a convenience store, or a gas station.
• Experience as a cashier or in another customer service role.
• Experience handling cash or completing shift reports.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide friendly, efficient service.
• Operate the cash register and point-of-sale system; process purchases and refunds; and handle cash accurately.
• Answer customer questions about products, prices, and promotions.
• Stock and organize shelves, coolers, freezers, and merchandise displays.
• Keep the sales floor, restrooms, and exterior areas clean, including fuel pumps and the car wash where applicable.
• Maintain clean, stocked Kelley’s Café food and beverage areas and follow food safety procedures.
• Complete shift paperwork and assist with cash and safe reconciliation.
• Follow safety, security, and cash-handling procedures.
• Communicate customer concerns, equipment problems, and other issues to store leadership.
• Work with the team to keep daily store operations running smoothly.
