Retail Sales Associate - Gresham, OR
About The Position
Batteries Plus is seeking a Retail Sales Associate who enjoys helping customers find the right products, services, and solutions. The role offers a fun and exciting team atmosphere where you can be a hero to customers by understanding their needs and providing solutions. Through provided training, you will learn to utilize your technical know-how and customer service skills to make customers' day while earning a good living. This position offers a combination of base hourly rate, individual and team sales incentives, and 'per piece' earnings. A minimum pay guarantee of $22.00 per hour is provided for the first 6 months to allow ample time to learn the business. High-performing associates can earn over $25 per hour. Additionally, a $2 per hour differential is provided for all weekend shift hours worked, and a $3 per hour differential for weekend overtime hours.
Requirements
- Background in customer service and sales
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Enjoy sales and troubleshooting
- Willingness to learn how to replace batteries in various applications and repair consumer electronic devices
- Previous retail experience preferred
- Comprehensive understanding of the store's products
- Advanced customer service skills
- Basic math skills
- Ability to use a cash register
- Strong level of professionalism at work
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience when dealing with difficult customers
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Regularly stand, walk, and use hands to handle or touch
- Frequently talk, hear, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach above shoulders, and lift more than 50 pounds
- Regular use of electrical cables, simple hand tools, a magnifying glass, spot welders, automotive and electronic testing equipment, phone, fax, computer, and printer/copier

Responsibilities
- Greet customers, ask questions, and determine needs
- Provide complete solutions to customer needs
- Operate a technology-based Point of Sale system to complete sales transactions
- Handle inbound phone sales/service
- Install large and small batteries in various devices
- Disassemble/reassemble phones and tablets to complete repairs
- Function as a team player
- Maintain inventory stock
- Manage inventory
- Ship and/or deliver to commercial accounts
- Maintain a clean and full store appearance
- Build displays to better market seasonal products
- Prepare the store for daily opening and closing
