About The Position

A successful Retail Sales Associate represents the Brookwood in Georgetown vision and ensures a pleasurable shopping experience for guests by providing personal attention, knowledgeable help, and outstanding guest service. Brookwood in Georgetown (BiG) is a dynamic Christian non-profit vocational program for adults with special needs. Our mission is to celebrate and empower our Citizens through meaningful work. This role is seasonal, part-time, and runs from October through the end of December. The Cafe team supervises citizens as they work in the cafe, creating a meaningful, positive work environment and adapting the environment to set citizens up for success. This role also involves serving customers, maintaining a clean environment, running the register, and making specialty coffee drinks.

Requirements

At least one year of experience with adults with special needs required.

Responsibilities

Responsible for safety and well-being of adults with special needs as they work in the kitchen and cafe.
Creates a meaningful, positive work environment for Citizens.
Adapts the environment to set Citizens up for success.
Works along with the Cafe Manager and Cafe staff to provide an excellent guest experience including serving customers and maintaining a clean environment.
Runs the register and maintains a balanced cash drawer.
Makes Specialty coffee drinks.
Provides outstanding service to all customers by engaging with all customers with selecting merchandise and generally attending to their needs.
Assures the background, history, and mission of Brookwood in Georgetown is effectively communicated with guests.
Assists with merchandising activities of the store including displaying, restocking, and arranging shelves, counters, and tables to be effective sales devices.
Contributes to the cleanliness of the store area by cleaning and dusting shelves, displays, counters, floors, and restrooms.
Assures that all merchandise is properly marked or tagged when displayed and is properly and accurately charged at time of purchase.
Accepts payments, wraps or bags merchandise and presents receipts of each transaction to the guest.
Help with online store by fulfilling orders in a timely manner.
Keeps sales records, balance receipts and follows inventory guidelines to document the day's sales activity.
Opens and closes the store following established procedures for readiness and safety.
Looks after the safety of customers, Citizens, and co-workers and immediately reports any unsafe conditions to their supervisor.
Initiates safe work habits and never takes chances or risks personal safety.
Assists with events (ex: luncheons, Christmas Affair, Honey Launch, etc.) in both shops and in the Cafe.
