About The Position

The Retail Sales Associate promotes and sells BJ’s membership programs, including acquiring new members and renewing, upgrading, and cross-selling memberships. The role also supports members with merchandise returns, exchanges, pickups, BOPIC orders, credit card applications, product lookups, and general service inquiries. Associates are expected to provide courteous, efficient service, resolve or escalate concerns appropriately, and help maintain club policies and standards. The position may include work in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• Prior front-line or customer service experience, or previous sales experience, preferred.
• Results-driven, with demonstrated success in achieving goals.
• Basic math skills preferred.
• Computer proficiency preferred.
• Ability to occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds; heavier or awkward objects may require assistance.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Responsibilities

• Promote BJ’s membership value proposition, including acquisition, retention, member perks, and the member experience.
• Pitch membership programs and sell memberships to potential new and existing members in accordance with company policies and practices.
• Work toward business-established sales and performance benchmarks.
• Understand BJ’s membership options and co-brand credit card offerings.
• Serve as a first point of contact for member questions and issues, membership matters, credit card applications, returns, exchanges, product lookups, and pickups.
• Follow tax-exempt and resale membership policies and procedures, including monitoring renewals and tax-exempt or resale status.
• Resolve member concerns courteously and promptly, escalating issues to the PIC or MOD when necessary.
• Assist members with Buy Online and Pick Up In Club (BOPIC) orders.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and contribute to a safe, clean, organized, and positive club environment.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Deliver GOLD member service standards: Greet, Anticipate, Appreciate; provide fast, friendly service; and maintain full, fresh, clean club standards.
• Work collaboratively to meet club standards, including stocking items, executing promotional plans, maintaining accurate signage, and keeping the club clean and organized.
