About The Position

Kelley’s Market is hiring Retail Sales Associates to provide friendly customer service and help keep its convenience store running smoothly. Associates welcome customers, operate the cash register and point-of-sale system, process purchases and refunds, answer questions about products and promotions, stock and organize merchandise, and maintain clean store and food-service areas. They also complete shift paperwork, support cash reconciliation, follow safety and cash-handling procedures, and communicate issues to store leadership. The position is based at Kelley’s Market | Hononegah, 5213 Elevator Rd, Roscoe, IL 61073. Pay is $15–$18 per hour based on relevant experience, knowledge, skills, education, and certifications, with an additional $3 per hour for overnight hours worked between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. The role is offered as full-time or part-time.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Provide friendly, dependable customer service in a busy retail environment.
• Communicate clearly and work effectively with team members and store leadership.
• Use basic math skills to handle cash and process transactions accurately.
• Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Stand for extended periods, frequently lift up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work in coolers, freezers, and outdoor conditions.
• Obtain an alcohol sales operator license where required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous work in retail, a convenience store, or a gas station; previous experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience as a cashier or in another customer service role.
• Experience handling cash or completing shift reports.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide friendly, efficient service.
• Operate the cash register and point-of-sale system; process purchases and refunds; and handle cash accurately.
• Answer customer questions about products, prices, and promotions.
• Stock and organize shelves, coolers, freezers, and merchandise displays.
• Keep the sales floor, restrooms, and exterior areas clean, including fuel pumps and the car wash where applicable.
• Maintain clean and stocked Kelley’s Café food and beverage areas and follow food safety procedures.
• Complete shift paperwork and assist with cash and safe reconciliation.
• Follow safety, security, and cash-handling procedures.
• Communicate customer concerns, equipment problems, and other issues to store leadership.
• Work with the team to keep daily store operations running smoothly.
