About The Position

The Retail Sales Associate promotes and sells BJ’s membership programs, supports membership acquisition and retention, and provides customer service. The role also assists members with credit card applications, questions, merchandise returns and exchanges, product lookups, and order pickups. Associates follow club policies and procedures, resolve or escalate member concerns, assist with Buy Online and Pick Up In Club orders, and may work in other departments as needed. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Requirements

• Prior frontline or customer service experience preferred.
• Previous sales experience preferred.
• Results-driven, with proven success in achieving goals.

• May need to lift objects up to 50 pounds and, with assistance, move heavy or awkward objects weighing more than 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Basic math skills preferred.
• Computer proficiency preferred.
• Familiarity with AI tools, including ChatGPT, is valued.

Responsibilities

• Promote BJ’s value proposition for membership acquisition, retention, perks, and the member experience.
• Pitch membership programs and sell memberships to potential new and existing members in accordance with company policies and practices.
• Work toward business-established goals and benchmarks.
• Understand BJ’s membership options and co-brand credit card.
• Provide first-line assistance with memberships, credit card applications, general questions, merchandise returns and exchanges, product lookups, and pickups.
• Follow tax-exempt and resale membership retention processes, including monitoring renewals and tax-exempt or resale status.
• Resolve member concerns courteously and promptly, escalating issues to the PIC or MOD when necessary.
• Assist members with Buy Online and Pick Up In Club orders.
• Maintain club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including work in other departments as needed.
• Deliver service excellence, greet members, anticipate their needs, and help maintain a safe and positive member experience.
• Work with the team to maintain club standards, including stocking items, executing promotional plans, maintaining accurate signage, and keeping the club clean and organized.
• Understand how to access and read department production or financial performance reporting.
