About The Position

Greet and assist customers. Schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, maintain accurate patient records, and assist with preliminary testing under the Optometrist’s supervision. This role involves medical coding, insurance research, and billing. Responsibilities include greeting and assisting customers, scheduling appointments, answering phones, checking patients in and out, collecting payments, and performing other front desk tasks. The position also requires performing preliminary testing data collection, maintaining patient records, calling for insurance preauthorization, following up on authorizations, cleaning and maintaining the reception area, offering current promotions and pricing, discussing discount club card benefits, and maintaining a doctor referral log.

Requirements

  • One year of experience, optical preferred.
  • HS diploma, GED or 1-5 years of equivalent related job experience

Responsibilities

  • Medical coding, Insurance research, and billing.
  • Greet and assist customers. Schedule appointments according to the Resources Scheduling guidelines. Answer the phone, answer patients’ questions, check patients in and out, collect payments, monitor and perform other front desk tasks as needed.
  • Perform preliminary testing data collection as directed.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records.
  • Call for insurance preauthorization. Follow up on hold authorizations.
  • Clean and maintain the reception area.
  • Offer current promotions and pricing guidelines to customers. Discuss benefits and features of the discount club card with customers.
  • Maintain outside and internal Doctor Referral log for medical patients.
  • Offer current promotions and starting prices to customers
