About The Position

The job description outlines the role of a Part-Time Store Environment Team Member at Michaels, located in La Crosse, WI. This involves a range of cleaning duties, including trash disposal, floor cleaning (dust and damp mopping), and deep cleaning of high-traffic areas such as bathrooms, breakrooms, and entryways. The team member is expected to manage cleaning equipment, notify supervisors of supply needs, and proactively identify and address areas requiring cleaning, all while adhering to federal, state, and county guidelines. Beyond cleaning, the role requires positive and respectful interactions with both customers and team members, serving as a role model, and contributing to a positive store image. Additionally, the position may involve various other duties, including assisting with customer checkout and cash handling, promoting the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, supporting Omni channel processes like Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS), participating in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram (POG) execution, and contributing to shrink and safety initiatives. Compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies is also essential.

Requirements

Applicants in the U.S. must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.
Michaels requires all team members in this role to be at least sixteen (16) years or older.
Ability to remain standing for long periods of time
Ability to move throughout the store
Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching and stretching
Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment

Responsibilities

Maintain a high standard of overall look and feel of the store which includes maintaining store cleanliness and recovery standards to deliver our Brand Promises.
Deliver friendly customer service, help customers shop our store and find what they’re looking for.
Collects and disposes of trash following approved procedures.
Dust and damp mops floors following approved procedures.
Moves equipment and products for proper cleaning and places products back in correct placement.
Cleans assigned areas with the use of assigned materials and equipment.
May require mixing water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
Deep clean key areas of the store including but not limited to bathrooms, breakrooms, entry ways and other high traffic areas to maintain a clean, safe environment for customers and staff.
Must keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly; notify supervisor of supply needs in advance for replenishment.
Seeks out areas requiring cleaning; takes initiative to complete the task.
Completes all tasks assigned by supervisor.
Performs tasks in accordance with all federal, state and county guidelines.
Maintain positive and respectful interactions with both team members and customers, even in difficult situations, in keeping with the organization’s vision and values.
Project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
Provide a fast and friendly check out experience; execute cash handling to standards.
Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS)
Participate in the truck un-load, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes.
