About The Position

Our mission is to Change Lives through the Power of Work! This role is responsible for the sorting and pricing of donated goods and materials. Job functions include Textiles and Hardlines Processing, Donation Attendant, Material Handling, and Operating a Compactor. The position requires medium work, occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds of force and/or up to 25 pounds of lifting, frequent lifting up to 10 pounds, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, climbing, reaching, handling, hearing, talking, seeing and repetitive movement. The work environment is generally inside 100%, but may include outside work on occasion. It involves limited emotional effort, a routine environment with periods of isolated high stress, and short deadlines requiring some overtime. Core competencies include providing positive internal and external customer relations, interacting and working with individuals referred for training, thinking independently in the supervisor's absence, meeting production goals, demonstrating quality control and accuracy with sorting and pricing guidelines, and following 6S Checklist, procedures, signage, and layout based on Kaizen principles. Availability to work after-hours for special projects and weekends and some holidays is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in retail operations preferred.
  • Must be able to provide positive internal and external customer relations and to easily interact and work with individuals referred for training.
  • Demonstrate ability to think independently in supervisor’s absence.
  • Meet production goals.
  • Demonstrate quality control and accuracy with sorting and pricing guidelines.
  • Kaizen principles: follow 6S Checklist, procedures, signage, and layout.
  • Availability to work after-hours for special projects
  • Availability to work weekends and some holidays

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the sorting and pricing of donated goods and materials.
  • Follow established sorting and pricing guidelines
  • Recognize name brand, vintage, and collectible items
  • Size and hang textiles
  • Differentiate materials and place in proper containers, z-racks, etc.
  • Receive donated items
  • Sort donations by category
  • Operate pump cart and stacker to move containers, totes, etc.
  • Assemble / Disassemble containers, gaylords, kit bins
  • Make proper use of available space and materials
  • Recognize and follow proper material content for compactor operation
  • Know the mechanical operation of the compactor
  • Understand and demonstrate safe operation of the compactor
