In this Retail Pharmacy Technician opening, you will float between Banner Baywood, Banner Gateway, and Banner Desert medical centers to cover holiday, PTO, and sick coverage. Hours can range between 6AM-8PM depending on location. The shifts can be any hours during those times, but typically 10 hour shifts during the week and weekend. Banner Staffing Services (BSS) offers Registry/Per Diem opportunities within Banner Health. Registry/Per Diem positions are utilized as needed within our facilities. Completion of post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment, drug screen and background check (includes; employment, criminal and education) is required. POSITION SUMMARY This position will prepare, dispense, and compound medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Provide prescription support services for patients to ensure safe, appropriate, effective and efficient delivery of medication therapy. Provide excellent customer service skills, high attention to detail, strong problem solving, documentation and computer skills. Work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support pharmaceutical care activities, complete pharmacy billing activities, record keeping, reporting, inventory management, and arrange appropriate medication delivery.

Requirements

Requires Pharmacy Technician licensure and active Pharmacy Technician certification OR Pharmacy Intern licensure in the state of practice. Incumbents in Arizona are also required to provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire.
Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant work experience.
Ability to attend and successfully complete 160 hours of on the job training required.
Strong customer service focus, superior problem-solving abilities.
Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand-held calculator is required.
BSS Registry Team members and Travelers are not eligible to drive on behalf of Banner and are not required to possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible for coverage under the company’s auto insurance policy.

Nice To Haves

Associates or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Proficiency and experience with third party claims adjudication and claims rejection reconciliation preferred.
Proficiency and experience with non-sterile, sterile and hazardous drug compounding preferred.
Work experience which demonstrates analytical ability, judgment and interpersonal skills in pharmacy or healthcare preferred.
Experience and proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or comparable program.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, review and interpret prescriptions.
Prepare and dispense appropriate amount of medication under supervision of a pharmacist. Deliver medications accurately to the patient.
Answer phones, accept prescriptions, and may communicate with patients in waiting area.
Assist with inventory, maintain a clean work environment, and assist with any other administrative duties as assigned by supervising pharmacists or senior technicians.
Follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and perform other work assignments
