About The Position

The Retail Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist at Southeast Health’s Southeast Medicine Shop as dictated by Alabama state law. The role supports prescription preparation and safe dispensing, customer service, insurance processing, cash-register operation, and inventory management. The technician protects patient information, follows safety and infection-prevention policies, communicates effectively, completes required education and competency evaluations, and finishes assignments within the specified time or shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pharmacy technician licensure from the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to communicate effectively in an emergency situation.

Nice To Haves

• Retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Pharmacy technician certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with prescription preparation and safe dispensing, including entering information into computer software, counting, and assisting with robotic dispensing.
• Process insurance adjudications and troubleshoot insurance issues.
• Provide high-quality customer service.
• Operate cash registers and manage inventory.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and safeguard it from unauthorized use.
• Follow safety guidelines and infection-prevention policies for self, patients, visitors, and employees.
• Handle communications independently and constructively, use assertiveness techniques, and practice effective stress reduction.
• Seek direction from available resources when necessary.
• Attend required annual in-service programs and relevant educational programs as available, and complete annual competency evaluations.
• Complete assignments within the specified time period or shift.
