About The Position

UCBC’s medically-integrated pharmacy is seeking an experienced, reliable, and ambitious pharmacy technician to join our team! This full-time position will assist the pharmacist and pharmacy staff in the medically-integrated retail pharmacy within UCBC to provide all aspects of pharmacy care. This individual will dispense specialty medications by assisting with processing pharmacy claims, filling prescriptions, filing insurance claims, procuring patient assistance, processing prior authorization requests, satellite deliveries, maintaining proper inventory control. This position is expected to follow all state/federal guidelines and current USP standards. Schedule is Monday through Thursday – 8:30am to 5pm, Friday – 8:30am to 4:30pm no weekends or holidays

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Georgia Pharmacy Technician License required
  • Three years of related experience preferable
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical retail pharmacy operations
  • Ability and willingness to work with potential exposure to toxic drugs and infectious patients
  • Ability to operate a computer and various software
  • Ability to work with precision and accuracy
  • Ability to remain flexible and adaptable to changing workloads

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy staff in the medically-integrated retail pharmacy within UCBC to provide all aspects of pharmacy care.
  • Dispense specialty medications by assisting with processing pharmacy claims, filling prescriptions, filing insurance claims, procuring patient assistance, processing prior authorization requests, satellite deliveries, maintaining proper inventory control.
  • Follow all state/federal guidelines and current USP standards.
  • Present a polite, considerate, and professional manner to all patients, staff, and support individuals whether interacting via phone, email, TEAMS, the EMR, or in person.
  • Become competent and knowledgeable in all software systems UCBC uses to process prescriptions and provide medically-integrated care. This may include using PioneerRx, OncoEMR, Microsoft software, CoverMyMeds portal, insurance portals and more.
  • Assist pharmacist and pharmacy staff in properly processing prescriptions, adjudicating claims, cashiering, and providing service to our patients and employees.
  • Comply with all guidelines for Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) programs.
  • Comply with University Cancer & Blood Center, LLC and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that required licensure (including continuing education requirements) are maintained.
