Requirements

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Current State of Texas Pharmacy license
  • Two years of pharmacy experience
  • Familiarity with telephone, copier, facsimile machine, computer equipment and software (Microsoft Word and Excel).

Nice To Haves

  • retail pharmacy experience preferred
  • knowledge of medications involved with oncology and/or chemotherapy preferred
  • Bilingual recommended

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accuracy of all dispensed prescriptions.
  • Verify all prescription information, perform patient drug regimen and utilization review, insure an absence of known drug interactions, as well as counsel all patients.
  • Responsible for directly overseeing the preparation and dispensing of all prescriptions received by the pharmacy, including supervision of certified pharmacy technicians during preparation of said prescriptions.
  • Provide pharmaceutical care including patient drug regimen reviews, entering home medications in the electronic medical record (EMR), and providing drug information to the healthcare team and patients.
  • Responsible for facilitating departmental communication by demonstrating a professional, positive and helpful attitude in interactions with co-workers.
  • Oversee drug inventories and insure that controlled substance inventories are completed quarterly, as required, and that a perpetual inventory is kept of all CII medications and all other controlled substances that require such inventory.
  • Assist pharmacy technicians in maintaining adequate documentation, records, weekly inventory, and interactions with other health care professionals and patients.
  • Maintain and generate patient reports and records using the current pharmacy computer system.
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the pharmacy department, organize and prioritize work assignments, manage workflow, and assist the technician(s) with all aspects of the pharmacy operations.
  • Maintain education, skill assessment testing and competency requirements for current job title and position.
  • Provide a true and correct copy of current pharmacy license and receipts from required continuing education (ACPE accredited courses).
  • Other duties as assigned.
