About The Position

This is a part-time (.5 FTE) Retail Pharmacist position with varying shifts at Pharmacy Washburn Retail. The role involves preparing and dispensing medications, following all relevant laws and hospital policies. Key responsibilities include designing, recommending, monitoring, and evaluating patient-specific pharmacotherapy, maintaining accurate medication profiles, and providing drug information to healthcare providers and patients. The pharmacist will also counsel patients on prescriptions and medication use, supervise pharmacy technicians, ensure continuity of pharmaceutical care, manage medication errors, and handle inventory. The position requires effective time management, computer proficiency, and maintaining a professional image. Marginal functions include performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of pharmacokinetics, drug utilization review, drug distribution systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess a current Oregon Pharmacist license or eligible for reciprocity
  • 3 (three) years Retail experience
  • Computer skills and understanding of general pharmacy systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a similar pharmacy practice setting is desirable.
  • Board of Pharmacy Licensed Preceptor.
  • Hospital pharmacy background and experience.
  • Immunization Certification within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications using appropriate techniques and following Pharmacy law and liability, both state and federal.
  • Follow the hospital’s policies and procedures
  • Design, recommend, monitor, and evaluate patient-specific pharmacotherapy.
  • Maintenance of accurate computerized medication profiles.
  • Provide concise, applicable, and timely responses to requests for drug information from healthcare providers and patients.
  • Provide patient counseling on prescriptions and medication-use education to patients and caregivers.
  • Supervise Pharmacy technicians and utilize pharmacy support personnel effectively.
  • Ensure continuity of pharmaceutical care to and from the acute and ambulatory patient-care settings.
  • Participate in the established process for assessing, managing, and reporting medication errors.
  • Proper labeling, packaging, compounding, billing, and delivery of medications.
  • Comply in all activities with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
  • Manage time effectively to fulfill practice responsibilities.
  • Manage purchasing, receiving, storage, and processing of inventory.
  • Maintain a professional image.
  • Attends Pharmacy staff meetings
  • Maximize work efficiency through the use of computers and other technologies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
