About The Position

At House of Sport, the Outdoor Lead will be expected to provide thoughtful product recommendations that fit the skill/experience level of each athlete. As the Outdoor Lead they are responsible for directing workflow and overseeing the daily operations within the department under the direction of the Assistant Store Manager. In addition, through elevated customer service the lead will build meaningful relationships with athletes within the great outdoors, fishing, camping, hiking, etc. Additional responsibilities will also include driving results, ensuring Company standards, and assisting with storewide operations as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years experience
  • Prior retail experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide thoughtful product recommendations that fit the skill/experience level of each athlete.
  • Direct workflow and oversee daily operations within the department.
  • Build meaningful relationships with athletes through elevated customer service.
  • Drive results and ensure Company standards.
  • Assist with storewide operations as needed.
  • Drive the highest level of customer service within the Outdoor department while engaging in behaviors that are in-line with company’s service and selling standards.
  • Provide consultative advice and demonstrate excellent product knowledge.
  • Uphold standards for merchandise presentation by following established floor sets, signing requirements, price changes, replenishment and recovery processes, in-stock, etc.
  • Guide and educate athletes through their purchase by communicating information on use and maintenance of their equipment and accessories.
  • Assist the store management team with general supervision in the store, including opening and closing the store, performing Front End and Cash Office functions.
  • Assist manager with department scheduling, directing workflow, daily guide assignments, and monitoring project status.
  • Communicate information to department guides regarding Company initiatives, programs, promotions, etc.
  • Maintain Company loss prevention standards and controls.
  • Assist with training associates on Company procedures and programs, including new associate training and cross training current associates.
  • Train and mentor new hires by sharing experience, knowledge and best practices.
  • Share timely feedback on projects, tasks and deliverables.
