About The Position

The Retail Merchandiser executes merchandising activities in stores throughout the Aberdeen, Maryland area and supports the regional sales team in maintaining merchandising excellence. The role involves building relationships with store personnel, maintaining planogram compliance, merchandising and rotating products, supporting promotions and displays, and providing customer service to help retailers succeed. The position also involves reporting, attending sales meetings and events, communicating market changes, and completing tasks assigned by a manager.

Requirements

Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to understand and interpret merchandising tools and visual direction.

Ability to prioritize and multitask with a sense of urgency.
Strong time-management and organizational skills.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to operate a two- or four-wheel dolly.
Ability to lift, pull, and push more than 50 pounds.
Ability to perform repetitive reaching overhead, standing, walking, kneeling, and bending.
Ability to use a personal digital assistant (PDA).
Grocery store products experience required.
High school diploma required.

Previous sales knowledge helpful.
College degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Establish relationships with store personnel and department-level supervisors to sustain and grow sales.
Maintain shelf Plan-O-Gram compliance in cooperation with store personnel.
Upsell promotional opportunities for displays and programs.
Merchandise, display, and rotate products according to company standards and customer planograms.
Assist with resets, new store openings, display and end-cap setup, and implementation of company initiatives and promotions.
Identify merchandising challenges and offer store-specific solutions using brands in accordance with brand standards.
Re-tag shelves and set up point-of-sale material.
Help pack out shelves.
Remove discontinued items and proactively place authorized items.
Check product codes and rotate products at store level.
Complete a weekly highlight report.
Void closures for team-identified items.
Attend regular sales meetings and special events.
Establish and maintain customer rapport by providing outstanding customer service, following up on commitments, and calling on assigned accounts.
Assist Sales Managers as required.
Offer assistance, recommend items, and provide expertise in support of retailer success.
Carry out daily tasks assigned by the manager.
Communicate competitive changes or opportunities to the manager.
Demonstrate a positive attitude and work effectively with a variety of personalities in retail settings.
