About The Position

Sodexo is seeking an experienced Retail Manager 2 to support retail food operations at UMass Memorial HealthAlliance in Leominster, Massachusetts . This community-based hospital is part of the UMass Memorial Health system and is committed to exceptional patient, visitor, and employee experiences. In this role, you’ll oversee hospital retail dining operations while playing a key role in Sodexo’s “Growing Places” partnership , an innovative program that connects hospitals with local, minority‑owned, and small business food vendors . As Retail Manager 2, you will serve as a liaison between the hospital and external Growing Places partners , helping onboard and support new vendors while ensuring seamless day-to-day operations. This position is ideal for restaurant general managers, café managers, or multi‑unit retail leaders looking to transition into healthcare food service—offering stable hours, no late nights , and a collaborative, team‑first management culture .

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in restaurant, café, or retail food service management
  • Strong people‑management skills with a team‑first, coaching‑oriented leadership style
  • Customer‑focused mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced service environment
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with external partners and vendors
  • Minimum Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED or Equivalent
  • Minimum Management Experience - 1 year

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily retail food service operations, ensuring high standards for food quality, service, safety, and cleanliness
  • Manage, train, and develop frontline team members using a people‑first, team‑focused leadership approach
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the Growing Places partnership , working directly with potential and current external vendors to support onboarding, communication, and operational alignment between vendors and the hospital
  • Collaborate with hospital stakeholders and Growing Places partners to deliver a cohesive and positive dining experience
  • Drive customer satisfaction through visible leadership, consistent service standards, and proactive problem solving
  • Monitor financial performance including sales, labor, food costs, and inventory
  • Ensure compliance with all Sodexo, client, food safety, and regulatory standards
