About The Position

Midwest Co-op is currently accepting resumes for the position of Retail Location Coordinator. Under the direction of the Retail Location Manager, the Retail Location Coordinator supports the daily operations of a single MCS retail location specializing in farm supply, hardware, feed, and lifestyle products. This role assists with staff coordination, inventory management, customer service, and merchandising to ensure efficient store performance and alignment with co-operative values. This position plays a key role in fostering team collaboration and maintaining high service standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong working knowledge of basic accounting and computer systems used in retail operations.
  • Proficient in Office 365 including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Effective oral and written communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain a positive, professional manner under all conditions

Nice To Haves

  • post-secondary education in business, retail management, or a related field is preferred
  • Preferably 2–4 years of leadership and/or management experience
  • Ideally possesses 3–5 years of customer service experience, with essential knowledge of product merchandising techniques, inventory management, and retail sales strategies

Responsibilities

  • Support the oversight of Retail and Retail & Garden Associates & Branch Accounting Clerks and assist with coordinating delivery dispatch operations when needed.
  • Demonstrate leadership by mentoring staff in key areas such as sales, system usage, store upkeep, merchandising, cash handling, preventative maintenance, and product knowledge.
  • Support daily store operations to ensure a smooth and welcoming shopping experience.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by assisting members and customers, resolving routine issues, and promoting co-operative values.
  • Help maintain store cleanliness, organization, and seasonal merchandising standards.
  • Assist with in-store promotions, advertising, and product displays to enhance visibility of MCS products and services.
  • Provide guidance and support to store employees across departments during daily tasks.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and development of new and existing staff.
  • Help coordinate scheduling and review timecards under the direction of the Retail Location Manager.
  • Foster a positive team environment that aligns with company goals and values.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure products are in saleable condition within budget guidelines.
  • Support accurate product coding, pricing, descriptions, and system updates.
  • Assist with cycle counts, variance tracking, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure departments are stocked, labeled, clean, and visually merchandised.
  • Maintain outdoor displays and assist with seasonal upkeep such as snow removal and lawn care.
  • Contribute to achieving approved sales and expense targets through effective support and execution.
  • Price products within established guidelines to meet margin goals.
  • Assist with vendor coordination to ensure timely and accurate product deliveries.
  • Help receive and verify shipments for quality, quantity, and cost accuracy.
  • Support adherence to company policies and legislative requirements including sales, credit, inventory, cash handling, and health & safety.
  • Maintain working knowledge of energy, feed, and crop products, programs, and invoicing procedures.
  • Promote inter-branch collaboration and uphold MCS’s image and community presence.
  • Care for company assets and maintain a professional personal appearance.
  • Follow all health and safety requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including using required protective equipment, following safety procedures, and reporting any potential hazards.
  • Follow all company personnel policies, including expectations related to training, performance, and conduct.
  • Participate in required MCS training such as Ministry of Labour courses, Health & Safety Standards, Policies, and AODA accessibility training.
  • Work cooperatively with approved contractors and follow all related safety procedures when contractors are on site.
  • Maintain any required licenses, certifications, or regulatory requirements needed for your role.
  • Perform other assigned duties as assigned.
