Retail Inventory Specialist

Stussy, Inc.•Los Angeles, CA
•$60,000 - $75,000•Onsite

About The Position

Inventory accuracy is the foundation everything else in Retail Ops depends on. Receiving, transfers, replenishment, and launch planning all break down when system records don’t match what’s physically in our stores. This role owns that accuracy across every chapter: investigating discrepancies, running counts, and fixing problems at the root so store and HQ teams can trust the numbers they work from.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in inventory control, inventory management, merchandising operations, or a related analytical role.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory, ERP, or order management systems (e.g., NetSuite, Shopify, SAP, or comparable).
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and working with large data sets.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to coordinate across store, warehouse, and finance teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting inventory across multiple locations, regions, or currencies.
  • Background in retail, apparel, or consumer products.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and retail store operations.
  • Working knowledge of inventory accounting concepts such as cost methods, shrink, and reserves.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies across all locations, including damages, mis-shipments, and negative on-hand balances, and process inventory adjustments so system records match physical stock.
  • Verify receipts against purchase orders and shipping documents, and resolve overages and shortages with the warehouse and vendors.
  • Track and reconcile returns to warehouse and transfers between locations so stock is accounted for at every step and in-transit inventory doesn’t get stuck.
  • Plan and coordinate cycle counts and full physical counts across regions, then investigate variances to find their root cause.
  • Maintain item master data in the POS and inventory systems, correcting duplicates, errors, and missing attributes.
  • Monitor inventory health across stores, including negative on-hand, aged in-transit stock, and recurring variances, and act before issues affect store operations.
  • Write and maintain procedures for receiving, counts, transfers, and returns, and train store teams to follow them.
  • Report inventory accuracy, count variances, and adjustment trends to Retail Operations leadership.
  • Manage reorders of store supplies and fixtures, and serve as the point of contact for related vendors.
