About The Position

This role is responsible for managing inventory control within a retail setting, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in receiving, stocking, and product management. The position involves championing customer service programs, handling all deliveries, maintaining inventory controls, reconciling vendor invoices, preventing product shrink, and ensuring the security, sanitation, and organization of receiving and storage areas. The role also includes training duties and operating various equipment. Occasional duties in dairy and frozen food stocking may be required in the absence of clerks. All job duties must be performed safely, accurately, and with integrity, maintaining good vendor relationships.

  • Ability to operate a 10-key and type on a keyboard.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, walk and move rapidly, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
  • May climb ladders.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary.
  • Mental alertness is required to ensure safe, accurate completion of work activities and to do repetitive work accurately.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Good understanding of Company policies and procedures regarding receiving, ordering, stocking, merchandising, pricing, inventory control, and product warehousing/storage.
  • Knowledge of product including seasonality and perishability.
  • Knowledge of product movement and factors impacting gross margins.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Regular attendance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Champion Company and Division customer service programs to meet or exceed Division customer service goals and promote personalized service.
  • Receive all deliveries, log them into the computer, and break down loads from DSD suppliers. May transport products from receiving area to storage, freezer, cooler, or sales area.
  • Ensure cost, quality, and inventory controls by verifying orders against invoices, auditing product contents, and using the electronic receiving system to verify costs.
  • Reconcile vendor invoices to computer system costs, inputting differences by item. Balance all receiving and transmit information for payment. Maintain invoices and reports according to the record retention schedule. Review and accept only proper and correct orders from outside sales representatives.
  • Daily review emails from the DSD Coordinator and retrieve vendor invoices.
  • Prevent shrink, damage, and spoilage of product. Repair and price damaged product if saleable. Discard or return damaged product to the appropriate vendor.
  • Maintain security, sanitation, and organization of the receiving, storage, and loading dock areas.
  • Perform training duties.
  • Operate related equipment such as hand trucks, six-wheel carts, power lifts, pallet jacks, balers, compactors, cutters, pricing guns, and computer equipment (handheld units and stationary CRT units).
  • Occasionally perform duties such as ordering, stocking, stacking, facing, pricing, marking, and rotating of dairy and frozen food items in the absence of the dairy or frozen food clerks.
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with vendors and delivering personnel.
  • Perform other necessary and required duties.
  • Judge and react to business activity.
  • Comply with all Company policies including attendance, grooming standards, and dress codes.
  • May utilize cleaning supplies, chemicals, and safety cutters.
