About The Position

Goodwill of Colorado is seeking candidates with production experience (e.g., retail, restaurant, hospitality, manufacturing) and cash handling experience to become Retail Generalist Associates. This role offers career growth opportunities within Goodwill of Colorado, allowing you to gain experience while serving the community. The Retail Centers operate from 9 AM to 9 PM on Mondays through Saturdays and 9 AM to 8 PM on Sundays. This is a full-time position requiring open availability for 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience in retail, product placement, or merchandising is desired.
  • One (1) year of cash handling is preferred.
  • High attention to detail and ability to make decisions.
  • Able to adapt to frequently changing work schedules and tasks.
  • Able to obtain certification in all employee positions through completion of On the Job (OJT) documentation.
  • Able to obtain Powered Equipment Operator certification to safely operate equipment.
  • Ability to operate hydraulic baler.
  • Ability to be walkie stacker and/or forklift certified to safely operate equipment.
  • Able to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to 8-hours per day.
  • Able to lift up to 75lbs, use a dolly and pallet jack as required.
  • Able to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.

Responsibilities

  • Crosstrain in other departments/areas and act as back-up for other areas as required.
  • Work closely with department supervisors to determine which areas are short-handed with staff or in meeting retail store goals.
  • Accept donations from customers, including loading/unloading product, ensuring all items are handled with care.
  • Sort and inspect donated items, making decisions on quality and value, pricing accordingly, and researching value as necessary.
  • Use and become certified on pallet jack, walkie stacker, forklift, hand dolly, or other equipment/tools to move and store donated product.
  • Ensure the sales floor is well stocked with product(s) according to retail store policies and procedures.
  • Provide accurate cashier transactions and a balanced cash drawer with minimal errors using a computer-based point-of-sales system.
  • Assist customers with product questions while providing excellent customer service.
  • Ensure production and sales floor areas are well organized, stocked, and clean.
  • Ensure E-Commerce products are processed accurately and moved to E-Commerce efficiently.
  • Rotate/pull old/unsold product(s) from the sales floor to ensure a fresh product selection.
  • Help provide a safe working environment for yourself, customers, and fellow employees.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.
