About The Position

As the Retail Food Service Manager, you will support the Director of Dining Services in ensuring the successful execution of all retail and cafeteria operations within Food & Nutrition Services. This includes driving exceptional customer service, maintaining compliance with corporate and client standards, and leading a high‑performing team. This position oversees a 7‑day‑a‑week retail dining operation. The manager will be responsible for one primary retail cafeteria location that includes a coffee shop and a self‑checkout kiosk, all within the same footprint.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management, Hospitality, or related field; OR Associate degree with three years of related experience preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in retail foodservice operational management, depending on education and training.
  • Strong knowledge of food and catering trends, with emphasis on quality, production, sanitation, cost controls, marketing, and presentation.
  • Experience with cash‑based retail operations required.
  • Demonstrated supervisory, leadership, and coaching abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, clients, customers, and frontline associates.
  • Understanding of financial, budgetary, accounting, and analytical practices.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office, email, internet platforms, and other relevant software.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior P&L accountability and contract‑managed service experience highly desirable.
  • Retail marketing experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily retail operations, providing leadership and hands‑on support to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Plan and supervise special functions and events.
  • Maintain strong cash‑handling controls, payroll accuracy, and required operational documentation.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop hourly team members.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and excellent public relations through efficient, safe, and resourceful operations.
  • Direct staff to deliver retail services in alignment with corporate policies and presentation standards.
  • Train employees in customer service, portion control, cashiering, and safety/sanitation procedures.
  • Complete all daily, weekly, and monthly reports within required deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, customers, patients, and families.
  • Implement and maintain cash‑handling standards as outlined in corporate policies to eliminate loss or misuse of company funds.
