We are currently seeking a Food Safety Auditor as part of our Institutional Business Group. This is a full-time position responsible for auditing retail grocery and food service establishments. The Food Safety Auditor conducts audits to measure conformity with established regulatory, industry, and customer brand standards related to food safety, workplace safety, and facility standards. The role also includes coaching and training on nonconformities identified during audits.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and an associate degree, with at least 2+ years of experience supporting retail food safety and sanitation programs
  • Certified Professional – Food Safety (CP-FS) credential from NEHA, or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of the start date (not required for candidates with REHS/RS credential)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Ability to travel regionally, including approximately 30% overnight travel
  • Strong time management skills, self-motivation, effective communication skills, and a professional demeanor

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Sanitarian or equivalent (e.g., REHS/RS credential)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food and Nutrition, Restaurant Management/Hospitality, Environmental Health, Education, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits against food safety standards within the assigned territory.
  • Provide coaching and training related to food safety and sanitation violations.
  • Communicate suggested corrective actions to site-level personnel.
  • Learn account standards, participate in initial calibration activities, and pass the calibration exam.
  • Complete audits using an Android or iOS tablet.
  • Travel to client sites to conduct audits.
  • Maintain or replace wall charts, job aids, stickers, test strips, and similar materials. (Some minor hand tool use may be required to tighten small fittings.)
  • Evaluate equipment service needs and coordinate technician support when necessary or when issues cannot be quickly resolved.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Perform internal reporting and administrative tasks.
