About The Position

Portland Leather Goods is expanding its brick-and-mortar retail presence and is seeking an energetic Retail District Manager to lead this growth. This remote position will oversee current locations and spearhead the launch of new stores across the United States. The role involves managing 10-15 locations, recruiting and leading retail staff, driving sales, managing budgets, and ensuring adherence to company policies and brand expectations. The ideal candidate will be passionate about customer service, thrive in a dynamic environment, and be excited about leading a team. This position requires significant travel, with candidates ideally located within an hour of a major airport.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or higher.
  • 4 years of multi-store supervision in a retail environment.
  • A current and valid driver’s license with the ability to commute to multiple locations and attend off-site events.
  • Ability to travel 50–75% of the time for events, training, or site visits.
  • Exceptional leadership and influential skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet business needs.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality balanced with respectful accountability.
  • Expertise in human resources including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, payroll, and performance management.
  • Proven time management skills and ability to execute multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  • Must reside in a state where the company is currently registered to conduct business and process payroll (Oregon, Texas, Washington, Florida, Virginia, South Carolina, Nevada, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Colorado, Tennessee, New Hampshire, and Georgia).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee 10-15 retail locations and guide the opening of new retail spots across the United States.
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and retain a diverse team of leaders.
  • Lead a highly engaged retail staff to ensure consistent achievement of sales goals and the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  • Manage the recruiting, set up, and launch of marketing and Grand Opening Events for new stores.
  • Provide consistent, respectful feedback and communication to the retail team.
  • Build and maintain a consistent customer-focused culture aligned with the Portland Leather Goods brand.
  • Drive top-line sales, interpret data, and manage budgets successfully.
  • Maintain Portland Leather Goods policies and brand expectations daily.
  • Plan and execute events, managing vendors, timelines, setup, and day-of coordination.
  • Develop KPI’s and SOP’s.
  • Act as a liaison between retail staff and business partners to obtain resources, remove obstacles, and drive retail improvement.
  • Analyze and predict sales trends, making informed decisions to facilitate growth.
  • Support store teams through consistent in-store visits, a minimum of 3 days per week, requiring frequent regional and air travel (approximately 50-75%).
