About The Position

Responsible for developing and executing the advertising, marketing and communications strategy for a specified region of Hy-Vee, Inc. retail locations. The role requires expert knowledge of traditional marketing, including television, radio, newspaper, and direct mail, as well as event marketing and other guerilla marketing tactics. The coordinator organizes and executes various marketing promotions, oversees the implementation of the company’s brand strategies and corporate marketing initiatives, and communicates objectives effectively with retail leadership teams. This position also involves coordinating local ad and event sales, working with vendors to place local ads, and collaborating with design teams for print ads. Additionally, the role supports building local sponsorships and community programs, manages pre-event planning and day-of execution for events, and reports on the effectiveness of weekly ads, promotions, and campaigns. A detailed content calendar must be maintained, and budgetary needs communicated. The coordinator may act as a spokesperson for the region and manages customer service inquiries via email and social media, ensuring the Hy-Vee brand is maintained across all marketing efforts. Staying informed about market trends and the competitive landscape is crucial for strategizing and implementing marketing plans. The role also involves educating and training store employees on traditional marketing best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or related area, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with traditional marketing, including radio, television, newspaper, direct mail, out of home, and event marketing preferred.
  • Five years of similar or related work experience.
  • Commitment to the Hy-Vee Mission and a willingness to promote the values of the company.
  • Ability to perform logical or scientific thinking to solve problems; several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate to and interact with people in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify problems, develop and execute solutions.
  • Must be able to report, write, or edit articles for publication; interview, counsel or advise people; and evaluate technical data.
  • Ability to interact with basic computer systems, including word processing, spreadsheet and email applications, as well as job-specific programs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the implementation of the company’s brand strategies and corporate marketing initiatives.
  • Communicates strategy, objectives and goals effectively with retail leadership teams.
  • Communicates all corporate ad and event sale details to store leadership and department managers.
  • Coordinates all local ad and event sales.
  • Communicates all local ad and event sale details to store leadership, department managers, suppliers and any other parties deemed necessary.
  • Works with local newspaper and/or other vendors to place local ads, along with working with design teams to create and approve all local print ads.
  • Works with retail leadership teams to build local sponsorships and community programs.
  • Responsible for pre-event planning and day of event execution for various community and sponsorship related events.
  • Reports on effectiveness and outcomes of weekly ads, promotions and campaigns to with retail leadership teams.
  • Prepares marketing activity reports and metrics for measuring program and campaign success.
  • Maintains a detailed content calendar in alignment with corporate office and regional stores.
  • Communicates budgetary needs to retail leadership teams.
  • Acts as spokesperson for the region for various media outlets as directed by Communications.
  • Manages and assists in response to customer service inquiries via email and social media.
  • Maintains Hy-Vee brand in all forms of marketing and advertising in alignment with corporate standards.
  • Stays informed about the market, industry trends, and the competitive landscape, while helping strategize and implement marketing, branding, and advertising plans.
  • Educates and trains store employees on traditional marketing best practices.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Provides media credits and charges to stores at inventory.
  • Represents Hy-Vee at functions.
  • Responsible for payments to renew memberships.
  • Assists in other areas of store as needed.
  • Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
