About The Position

TJ Maxx is seeking a Retail Department Coordinator to join their team. This role is responsible for executing receiving and merchandising standards, ensuring Associates process merchandise efficiently and effectively, and fostering a team environment. The coordinator will also focus on creating an excellent customer experience by engaging with customers and maintaining a clean and organized store, while modeling exceptional customer service. This position promotes a culture of honesty and integrity and maintains confidentiality. The role involves orchestrating truck delivery, prioritizing merchandise processing, training and mentoring Associates on merchandising and processing principles, and ensuring merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded. The coordinator will communicate with the Coordinator on Duty for efficient flow of goods, ensure Associates complete tasks according to the store plan, monitor team productivity, and organize back stock. They will maintain merchandising philosophy and signage standards, uphold backroom organizational and cleanliness standards, and ensure compliance with recycling and hazardous waste programs. Effective communication with management and Associates regarding priorities and progress updates is key, as is providing and accepting feedback. The role involves partnering with management on Associate training needs, ensuring adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures, promoting credit and loyalty programs, supporting shrink reduction goals, and promoting safety awareness. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Executing receiving and merchandising standards
  • Ensuring Associates are processing efficiently and effectively, and working as a team
  • Creating an excellent customer experience by engaging and interacting with all customers
  • Maintaining a clean and organized store
  • Modeling exceptional customer service
  • Orchestrating truck delivery, prioritizing the processing of merchandise onto the sales floor
  • Training and mentoring Associates on established merchandising and processing principles
  • Ensuring merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded
  • Communicating with the Coordinator on Duty to ensure efficient flow of goods to sales floor
  • Ensuring Associates complete tasks and activities according to store plan; prioritizing as needed
  • Monitoring productivity of team and coaching as necessary
  • Organizing and rotating back stock for easy replenishment
  • Maintaining and upholding merchandising philosophy and signage standards
  • Maintaining all organizational, cleanliness and recovery standards for the backroom area
  • Ensuring compliance with recycling and, where applicable, hazardous waste programs
  • Communicating accurately and effectively with management and Associates when setting and addressing priorities; providing progress updates
  • Providing and accepting recognition and constructive feedback
  • Partnering with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness
  • Ensuring adherence to all labor laws, policies, and procedures
  • Promoting credit and loyalty programs
  • Supporting and participating in store shrink reduction goals and programs
  • Promoting safety awareness and maintaining a safe environment
