About The Position

At TJX Companies, the Retail Department Coordinator is responsible for promoting an excellent customer experience by overseeing a team of Associates at the front of the store. This role ensures prompt, courteous customer service and the promotion of loyalty programs. The coordinator leads by example, engaging with customers, and maintaining a clean and organized store. They are expected to create a positive internal and external customer experience, foster honesty and integrity, and maintain confidentiality. The position involves taking an active role in training and mentoring Associates on front-end principles, personalizing customer experiences, and promoting loyalty programs. The coordinator also manages register assignments, supports and responds to Point of Sale (POS) coverage needs, and coordinates breaks for all Associates, while promptly addressing customer concerns. They ensure Associates execute tasks and activities according to the store plan, prioritize as needed, and communicate effectively with management and Associates. The role also involves providing and accepting recognition and constructive feedback, partnering with Management on Associate training needs, and ensuring adherence to all labor laws, policies, and procedures. Promoting credit and loyalty programs, supporting store shrink reduction goals, and maintaining a safe environment are also key aspects of this position. Requirements

  • Available to work flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Strong understanding of merchandising techniques
  • Capable of multi-tasking
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Able to respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations
  • Team player, working effectively with peers and supervisors
  • Able to train others
  • 1 year retail experience
  • 6 months of leadership experience

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for promoting an excellent customer experience
  • Oversees a team of Associates at front of store ensuring prompt, courteous customer service and promotion of loyalty programs
  • Leads by example by engaging and interacting with all customers, and maintaining a clean and organized store
  • Role models outstanding customer service
  • Creates a positive internal and external customer experience
  • Promotes a culture of honesty and integrity; maintains confidentiality
  • Takes an active role in training and mentoring Associates on front end principles
  • Trains and coaches Associates on personalizing the customer experience while promoting loyalty programs
  • Assigns registers, supports and responds to POS coverage needs, and coordinates breaks for all Associates
  • Addresses customer concerns and issues promptly, ensuring a positive customer experience
  • Ensures Associates execute tasks and activities according to store plan; prioritizes as needed
  • Communicates accurately and effectively with management and Associates when setting and addressing priorities; provides progress updates
  • Provides and accepts recognition and constructive feedback
  • Partners with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness
  • Ensures adherence to all labor laws, policies, and procedures
  • Promotes credit and loyalty programs
  • Supports and participates in store shrink reduction goals and programs
  • Promotes safety awareness and maintains a safe environment
