About The Position
The General Store Retail Clerk is responsible for delivering excellent customer service while assisting with daily store operations, including sales, stocking, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. This role also supports specialized areas such as an ice cream counter and retail services.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math skills for transactions
- Ability to leave a Point-of-Sale (POS) system
- Customer focused and friendly demeanor
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Adherence to food safety protocols
- California Food Handlers Certificate required upon hire
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in locating products
- Operate cash registers, handle payments, and process transactions accurately
- Stock shelves, rotate inventory, and check expiration dates on products
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store, including aisles, display cases, and storage areas
- Assist with ice cream, ensure proper hygiene and product presentation
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to management
- Follow all store policies, including health, safety, and loss-prevention procedures
- Answer customer questions and resolve complaints in a professional manner
- Other duties as assigned
