The Opportunity More Than Words (MTW) seeks a high energy, creative, highly motivated, and detail-oriented person to join the Boston retail thrift store team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Retail, this position provides a hands-on, real-world opportunity to apply business acumen in the daily operations and strategic growth of a nonprofit social enterprise. The Store Manager will support oversight of all aspects of the retail store including maximizing profitability, training, inventory management, donation processing and supporting and coaching youth employees on retail shifts.

Requirements

  • Have at least 5+ years of retail experience and a proven ability to inspire and compel others to exceed expectations
  • Have successful experience teaching, training or supervising new learners, and a talent for empowering and engaging others to work together to achieve goals
  • Must be a high-energy person who enjoys teaching others, hitting goals, and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Should be able to provide great customer service and possess technological aptitude and have a desire to achieve business goals
  • Must be able to lift boxes weighing approximately 25 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all safety, policies and procedures on retail shifts including those that require the need to supervise a group of up to 6 employees.
  • Perform opening and closing duties of a key holder, including but not limited to processing inventory, cash management and nightly deposits, recording KPI’s and daily hand off report.
  • Ensure success of all business activities: execute customer service at a high standard, ensure daily processing targets are met, manage visual merchandising and daily projects, and meet financial goals.
  • Support marketing efforts including digital marketing, store activations, and customer engagement.
  • Work alongside youth employees in our Core Social Enterprise team to provide ongoing training, feedback and support for employees to improve performance.
  • Hold youth employees accountable for all safety, policies and performance including attendance, punctuality, professionalism and efficiency with tasks on shift.
  • Provide training, guidance, and prompt feedback to employees, including addressing performance and providing professional development to the team.
  • Model best customer service practices for associates and processors on shift.
