About The Position

The Retail Banker II is responsible for driving deposit growth by deepening existing relationships and attracting new customers. This role originates consumer and ag/business deposit accounts and promotes supporting products such as digital banking, credit products, and IRA services. Success in this position requires strong consultative skills to identify customer needs, recommend appropriate solutions, and deliver excellent service. The Retail Banker II must demonstrate flexibility by seamlessly shifting between teller and banker responsibilities, adapting to changing branch needs while maintaining compliance and operational accuracy. In addition, this role supports branch growth through proactive outreach, product promotion, and relationship development activities as directed by branch leadership.

Requirements

  • 1+ years Retail Banking experience is highly recommended
  • Respond sensitively to the needs and priorities of the customer; recognize and take appropriate action to meet their needs and establish an effective working relationship with customers to gain their respect and loyalty.
  • Project a positive image of the Bank to all internal and external customers and provide exceptional customer interaction.
  • Must have the potential to understand and effectively apply product promotion techniques to open, develop and close a sale; must be able to create interest in a product and actively cross-promote other products and services.

  • General PC knowledge is required and must be able to maneuver well in the system to assist the customer with quality customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for promoting retail products and driving deposit growth by deepening existing customer relationships and soliciting new prospects to the Bank.
  • Understand the Bank’s products and be able to explain their value, positioning deposit accounts and services to support customer needs and branch growth.
  • Perform teller functions such as deposits, withdrawals, transfers, night drop processing, currency verification, and preparing change orders.
  • Interview and profile customer relationships to identify opportunities for deposit growth.
  • Recommend and cross-sell products and refer customers and prospects to appropriate accounts and services.
  • Assist customers with account needs, including checking, savings, certificates of deposit, cashier’s checks, and related services.
  • Assist walk-in, online, and phone customers with account questions or issues, providing resolution or escalation as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by alternating between teller and banker responsibilities based on branch needs.
  • Adapt quickly to changes in priorities and maintain effectiveness in both roles.
  • Understand and comply with bank operational procedures and compliance regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Privacy, Funds Availability, and CIP requirements.
