About The Position

This is a part-time Retail Associate position focused on providing excellent customer service, handling sales transactions, stocking merchandise, and maintaining the store's appearance. The role involves receiving donations, processing various types of merchandise, operating the cash register, performing cleaning duties, and assisting customers with their needs. The associate will also be responsible for explaining store operations and employing sales techniques to enhance the store's image. Flexibility in scheduling, including nights and weekends, is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience.
  • 6 months of related experience or training is highly desirable.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Prior cashiering experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of electronic devices.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand and/or walk for long periods.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • With assistance, push/pull rolling carts weighing up to 530 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Receive donations, greet donors, accept and unload donated materials, enter customer general information into a smart device, and thank donors.
  • Sort, separate, and hang clothing and household items.
  • Sort, test, clean, and mark small appliances, housewares, shoes, seasonal items, and other assorted merchandise.
  • Conduct sales transactions and maintain control of cash and credit card transactions by following proper procedures for voids, discounts, refunds, checks, and credit card payments.
  • Perform cleaning duties including bathrooms, floors, shelves, windows, break room, store fixtures, fitting rooms, dock area, store exterior, and merchandise counters.
  • Report issues that require maintenance repairs.
  • Provide customer assistance, price merchandise, assist in fitting rooms, offer recycling bags, explain store operations, and utilize sales techniques.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
