About The Position

This is a part-time retail position focused on customer service, sales, cashiering, stocking, sorting, inventory management, sizing, color coordination, and cleaning activities within a retail store environment. The role involves interacting with customers, processing donations and sales, maintaining store appearance, and contributing to the store's sales and community image.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of electronic devices.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand and/or walk for long periods.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • With assistance, able to push/pull rolling carts weighing up to 530 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months of related experience or training is highly desirable.
  • Prior cashiering experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive donations, greet donors, accept and unload donated materials, enter customer general information into a smart device, and thank donors.
  • Sort, separate, and hang clothing and household items.
  • Sort, test, clean, and mark small appliances, housewares, shoes, seasonal items, and other assorted merchandise.
  • Conduct sales transactions and maintain control of cash and credit card transactions by following proper procedures for voids, discounts, refunds, checks, and credit card payments.
  • Perform cleaning duties for various areas including bathrooms, floors, shelves, windows, break room, store fixtures, fitting rooms, dock area, store exterior, and merchandise counters.
  • Report issues that require maintenance repairs.
  • Provide customer assistance, price merchandise, assist in fitting rooms, offer recycling bags, explain store operations, and utilize sales techniques to enhance sales and community image.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
