Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer questions and issues in a friendly and courteous manner, contacting supervisor as needed.
  • Provide efficient check-out to customers, receiving cash and credit cards as payment.
  • Count money, verify amounts, issue correct change, provide receipts, and wrap/bag merchandise.
  • Verify cash register balances by comparing the total on the register with the amount of currency.
  • Maintain work area in an organized manner.
  • Promote sales by setting up displays and organizing merchandise.
  • Maintain merchandise on the sales floor by stocking racks, counters, and displays.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the store by cleaning shelves, counters, and displays.
  • Transport boxes, bins, and crates to work areas; distribute items and salvage to appropriate areas; dispose of unsalable items.
  • Process and price all incoming donations, including wares, books, shoes, and furniture.
  • Maintain production levels and accurately document the number of items/bins processed.
  • Review donations for quality and determine routing for further distribution.
  • Accept and receive donations, ensuring they are recorded appropriately.
  • Ensure the donations area is secured and donations are protected from misuse.
  • Operate material handling equipment.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Observe customer behavior and report suspicious activity to supervisor or security.
