About The Position

The mission of Ben’s Bells is to inspire, educate, and motivate people to realize the impact of intentional kindness, and to empower individuals to act according to that awareness, thereby strengthening ourselves, our relationships, and our communities. Recent research demonstrates that kindness benefits our physical and mental health and that recognizing kindness in others increases a person’s happiness and satisfaction. But just as solving a calculus problem requires advanced math skills, the challenges of daily life require advanced kindness skills. Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Retail, the Retail Assistant will further the mission of Ben’s Bells by supporting retail operations when and where needed during the holiday season. This flex time position will most often be responsible for retail sales at offsite events, as well as in-store sales at our brick-and-mortar location as needed. This position will conclude in January 2026.

Requirements

Customer service experience helpful, preferably in a retail environment
Proficiency in web applications and database systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Prior money-handling experience
Experience with POS/Inventory Management systems (LightSpeed POS preferred but not required)
Ability to effectively communicate in person, in writing, and on the phone
Excellent organizational skills
In-town travel required; must have reliable personal transportation and a clean driving record

Nice To Haves

Non-profit experience preferred but not required
Bilingual skills are helpful but not required

Responsibilities

Act as a first point-of-contact representative for Ben’s Bells Project with the ability to share Ben’s Bells story
Proactively respond to customer service issues and identify when issues need to be escalated
Help customers select products
Respond to merchandise inquiries via email and phone
Process merchandise transactions
Process cash, check, and credit card payments
Drives sales through engagement of customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge
Run daily reports
Balance cash register at the conclusion of each shift
Assist with inventory tagging and management
Gather, transport, and set up/tear down all merchandise and display items to and from events
Maintain store or booth inventory, cleanliness, and visual integrity including merchandise displays
Coordinate tasks for merchandise volunteers and interns
Assist Retail Director and Retail Coordinator as needed
