About The Position

The Retail Assistant Manager assists the Retail Manager with retail operations at Meow Wolf Denver and reports to the Retail Manager. The role supports profitability by managing day-to-day retail operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, restocking, inventory control, loss prevention, staff supervision, and customer service. The position also performs Manager on Duty responsibilities and must be able to carry out any role within the Retail department. This full-time, on-site position in Denver, Colorado, requires a flexible schedule that may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays. It includes supervisory responsibilities and work in a professional office and indoor attraction environment. The attraction environment may involve noise, dim lighting, strobing lights, special effects, fog machines, and small or enclosed spaces. The salary range is $62,613 to $70,440.

Requirements

At least 3 years of leadership experience in a retail, entertainment, or operations environment.
Proven work experience as an Assistant Retail Manager or in a similar leadership role.
Hands-on experience with point-of-sale systems.
Strong service skills and a welcoming demeanor.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Experience training staff and identifying training needs.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to lead and manage staff.
Good judgment in difficult and complicated management situations.
Ability to maintain an appropriate, dispassionate demeanor during emergencies and difficult customer or personnel interactions.
Ability to follow and enforce safety rules.
Adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to walk, stand, use stairs, slides, and elevators, and navigate the environment during the day and night.
Ability to remain seated or standing for prolonged periods and perform repetitive motions that may involve the wrists, hands, or fingers.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Nice To Haves

Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
Prior visual merchandising experience.

Responsibilities

Assist with managing labor, productivity, quality control, and safety measures established for the Operations Division and site.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Encourage and maintain internal and cross-departmental communication.
Assist with training staff to provide memorable, uniquely Meow Wolf service to guests.
Model and enforce cash management protocols, provide POS training, and follow cash-handling and cash-room compliance policies.
Assist the Retail Manager with supervising Retail Leads and Retail Associates.
Fulfill Manager on Duty duties and be able to perform any role within the Retail department.
Assist with creating effective schedules so work centers are well staffed during peak hours.
Assist with payroll and schedule changes.
Assist with projecting hiring needs.
Assist with recommending, creating, and communicating policies and procedures.
Maintain knowledge of events, special programs, and projects and communicate them to staff.
Assist with tracking visitation fluctuations and adjusting staffing levels accordingly.
Directly support site initiatives, including the role-playing element required of staff when interacting with guests.
Hire and train staff to provide memorable, uniquely Meow Wolf service to guests.
Ensure the store is properly stocked and visually merchandised.
