About The Position

The Secondary School Restorative Justice Coordinator (RJC) at Kairos Academies plays a critical role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and accountable school culture. The RJC supports students, staff, and families by leading restorative conversations, managing behavior systems, facilitating reentry meetings, and reinforcing positive relationships throughout the school day. This RJC role will support middle school and high school students, and the position blends relational work with structured accountability — ensuring every scholar feels safe, seen, and supported while maintaining Kairos’ high expectations for conduct and community care. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Experience working with youth in schools, counseling, or community-based programs.
  • Familiarity with restorative practices, de-escalation, and conflict resolution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and student information systems.
  • Eligible to work for any employer in the U.S. and able to pass background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Experience using DeansList or similar behavioral tracking systems.
  • Background in trauma-informed care, youth mentorship, or behavioral intervention.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and document 100% of behavioral incidents in alignment with Kairos’ Behavior Matrix.
  • Collect student and staff statements, review evidence, and record all incidents in DeansList and internal tracking systems.
  • Communicate incident outcomes promptly and clearly with relevant staff and leaders.
  • Facilitate restorative reentry meetings for students returning from suspension or extended absence.
  • Collaborate with staff and families to establish and document reentry plans before a student’s return to class.
  • Monitor reentry progress and ensure accountability, empathy, and closure are achieved.
  • Track daily behavior data through DeansList to identify trends, celebrate positive patterns, and flag students needing additional support.
  • Partner with the Principal, Director of Culture, and Counselor to coordinate interventions, behavior plans, and student support meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional documentation at all times.
  • Lead restorative circles, peer mediations, and reflective conversations to promote empathy, repair, and accountability.
  • Support consistent implementation of schoolwide culture systems and restorative frameworks.
  • Model de-escalation strategies and mentor students in managing conflict productively.
  • Maintain a strong, visible presence throughout the school day — during transitions, lunch, arrival, and dismissal — to promote safety, connection, and consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with school leaders, teachers, and the student support team to reinforce expectations and sustain a positive school culture.
  • Support family engagement and communicate regularly with caregivers regarding student progress or needs.
