About The Position

This role is responsible for promoting and maximizing the progressive and optimal functional level in residents. The position involves direct resident care, administrative support, and coordination with nursing and therapy staff. The Certified Nursing Assistant will assist residents with mobility, range of motion exercises, and restorative functions, while maintaining accurate documentation and participating in care planning. The role also includes managing supplies for the physical therapy department and ensuring a positive social work environment.

Requirements

  • Valid Georgia Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.
  • CPR Certified.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in long-term care.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Patience and self-disciplined.
  • Close eye work (job requires use of computers, typing, reading, writing).
  • Light work (job requires standing, walking, lifting under 15 pounds).
  • Moderate work (job requires lifting, moving, loading 15-30 pounds, prolonged use of small band tools, climbing ladders or foot stool).

Responsibilities

  • Directs or assists residents in transfer techniques to walk or use walker.
  • Directs or assists residents with a range of motion exercises, active and passive.
  • Be alert to resident’s response to treatment and notify therapist or nurse immediately for assistance if required.
  • Coordinates or assists with other restorative functions.
  • Documents daily and evaluates progress.
  • Maintain progress notes.
  • Participates in discharge planning, development and implementation of resident care plans, resident assessments, etc., as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure resident’s rights are protected.
  • Promotes and maximizes progressive and optimal functional level in residents.
  • Act as a receptionist to residents for the physical therapy department.
  • Brief resident of procedures involved with therapy and prepare necessary equipment.
  • Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc.
  • Ensure that equipment and supplies recommended by the therapist are available.
  • Attend Q. A. meeting monthly and report on all restorative programs.
  • Communicates with nursing personnel and other personnel.
  • Order supplies and equipment.
  • Receives and review deliveries and verifies invoices.
  • Maintain supplies in accordance with healthcare operational protocol.
  • Dispense and distribute supplies.
  • Maintain a current and accurate perpetual inventory.
  • Prepare reports and forms.
  • Assist with residents’ monthly weighs.
  • Provides administrative support by answering the phone for short periods of time.
  • Must be congenial with residents, residents’ families and associates.
  • Must contribute to a positive social work environment by sharing job knowledge.
  • Other duties as assigned.
