About The Position

The purpose of Restorative Aide Health Care Technician (RHCT) position is to provided restorative nursing care and delegated formalized therapy tasks, as assigned, completing work accurately, safely, and in a timely manner. Specific care to include passive and active range of motion (ROM), ambulation, special positioning techniques, splint application, ADL training, bowel and bladder management, and restorative feeding. Responsibilities include working with Residents needing restorative nursing measures to gain or to maintain their highest possible, practical functional level. Position works closely with other nursing services personnel and rehabilitation services personnel such as Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech and Language Pathology (SLP). This position is considered mandatory, which means that employees are required to report to work during adverse weather and emergency conditions.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow the treatment plans and/or clinical orders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, staff and others.
  • Ability to learn behavior management and supportive counseling techniques.
  • High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of a variety of psychiatric, intellectual disabilities, medical and/or other related conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of teaching strategies and positive behavior support for people with severe cognitive deficits.
