About The Position

The Food and Beverage Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring that all guests receive exceptional service and that the staff performs their duties efficiently. This role involves supervising front-of-house staff, managing service quality, handling customer complaints, and assisting with administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Several years of experience in the hospitality industry, with at least one year in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure and make decisions quickly.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
  • Basic understanding of POS systems and cash handling procedures.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in the food service industry.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in food and beverage operations
  • Experience handling cash, POS systems, inventory, and customer service
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels or hospitality environments

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in hospitality management or a related field is a plus.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of the front-of-house staff, including servers, hosts/hostesses, bartenders, and bussers. Assign duties, monitor performance, and ensure that service standards are consistently met.
  • Ensure that guests have a positive dining experience by providing excellent service, addressing any issues or complaints promptly, and ensuring that all customer needs are met.
  • Train new staff on the restaurant’s service standards, procedures, and policies. Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to staff to improve performance and maintain high service levels.
  • Prepare work schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels during peak times and managing shift changes smoothly. Monitor staff attendance and address any issues related to punctuality or absenteeism.
  • Monitor the quality of food and beverages served, working closely with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure consistency in presentation and taste. Address any discrepancies or issues that may arise.
  • Ensure that the restaurant complies with all health and safety regulations, including food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards. Conduct regular inspections and address any violations immediately.
  • Assist in managing the inventory of front-of-house supplies, including tableware, linens, and beverages. Ensure that all necessary items are stocked and readily available for service.
  • Greet guests, and assist with seating as needed. Handle special requests and accommodate guests with dietary restrictions or preferences.
  • Resolve conflicts between staff members or between staff and guests in a professional manner. Escalate serious issues to the Restaurant Manager when necessary.
  • Assist with daily cash handling, including balancing registers, processing payments, and preparing bank deposits. Support the Restaurant Manager in maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Help plan and oversee special events, private parties, or large group bookings. Coordinate with the kitchen and service teams to ensure that events run smoothly.
  • Monitor and help control operational costs, including labor, supplies, and utilities. Suggest and implement measures to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
