About The Position

This is a high-impact, architecture-first position focused on building an enterprise observability capability from the ground up across a global, multi-cloud, vendor-heavy ecosystem, with the opportunity to define and lead future SRE initiatives. It is not a traditional monitoring or DevOps role. The role involves building the observability vision and strategy, architecting a multi-platform monitoring ecosystem, ensuring end-to-end system visibility and integration, driving implementation and execution, introducing and shaping DevOps & SRE foundations, establishing operational excellence, and owning the long-term program growth. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with hands-on technical depth, comfortable operating in ambiguity and greenfield environments, and a strong communicator who can bridge business, engineering, and vendor teams. They must have a proven ability to own outcomes end-to-end and experience scaling platform-level solutions in complex ecosystems.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive observability ecosystem across restaurant systems (in-store / POS / edge), e-commerce platforms, cloud infrastructure, international websites and applications, and vendor-hosted platforms (Oracle, NCR, loyalty vendors).
Establish a centralized visibility model to eliminate fragmented monitoring and reactive incident detection.
Define standards for monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and telemetry.
Evaluate current tooling (e.g., Datadog) and determine scalability, cost efficiency, and enterprise viability across international environments.
Perform vendor and tool assessments to determine best-fit platforms, integration feasibility, and long-term sustainability.
Design an architecture that enables cross-platform observability, vendor system integration, and real-time issue detection and proactive alerting.
Ensure observability across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), third-party/vendor systems, POS environments, and edge devices.
Determine the right level of monitoring (e.g., system-level vs device-level vs transaction-level).
Create data flows and instrumentation strategies across distributed systems.
Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for observability tools and approaches.
Guide implementation including tool configuration, integration design, deployment, testing, and validation.
Partner with solution architects, engineers and product teams, and external vendors.
Help define how DevOps practices integrate into the observability platform.
Introduce capabilities such as deployment visibility, operational readiness, and automated alerting and response.
Lay the groundwork to build a future SRE function from scratch.
Improve incident detection and response, root cause analysis processes, and system reliability and uptime.
Address current gaps where issues were not proactively detected.
Create dashboards and alerting frameworks for proactive monitoring.
Operate as a foundational hire for observability and reliability engineering.
Potential to build and lead an SRE team.
Define operational standards and best practices.
Support ongoing system expansion, including new digital products, loyalty platforms, and international growth initiatives.
