Full-time Restaurant Manager at Thermea Spa Village Whitby. We have taken the spa experience and transformed it into a wellness village. Requirements

  • College degree in Tourism, Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major or relevant experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in food & beverage and customer service, including experience with POS systems
  • Minimum two (2) years in a management position
  • Knowledge of wine characteristics and pairings
  • Strong sense of hospitality
  • Ability to resolve issues quickly; action and results-oriented
  • Inspirational and dynamic leader
  • Possess strong interpersonal and social skills; sense of challenge, perseverance
  • Good physical condition; must be able frequently lift up to 50 lbs (23kg) and be able to work in a standing position for long period of time (up to 8 hours)
  • Ability to communicate clearly with guests, managers and other associates
  • Possess a very good sense of organization, planning and monitoring, as well as great professional rigor

Responsibilities

  • Upholds organizational standards in all restaurant operations
  • Applies and enforces, day to day, all standards and legislation governing alcohol service, hygiene, sanitation, and occupational health and safety
  • Puts in place and maintains the service processes and routines that deliver a consistent guest experience
  • Is present on the floor during peak services, supporting the team hands-on and stepping in wherever the pressure is greatest
  • Touches tables throughout service to check on guests, gauge how their experience is landing, and correct anything falling short before they leave
  • Responds to guest feedback promptly, resolves complaints on the spot where possible, and escalates what cannot be resolved at that level
  • Completes weekly inventory counts, maintains par levels, and places orders accordingly
  • Manages labour within established targets and keeps purchasing within approved budget, flagging variances to the Director, Food & Beverage
  • Carries out any other related duties required by the role
  • Builds and publishes team schedules that keep the restaurant properly staffed for forecasted volume, and manages time-off requests and shift coverage
  • Coaches the team through regular one-on-ones, giving clear, specific feedback and setting development goals together
  • Trains new Artisans on service standards and menu knowledge, and keeps the whole team current as offerings change
  • Recommends hiring and performance decisions to the Director, Food & Beverage, and takes part in interviews and selection
  • Works closely with the kitchen, spa and guest services teams so the restaurant runs in step with the rest of the Spa Village
