Requirements

  • Prior line cooking knowledge/experience.
  • Understanding of how to properly cook foods to a safe temperature.
  • Proficiency in basic cooking techniques (knife cuts, egg cookery, basic griddle cooking).
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets.
  • Basic kitchen sanitation knowledge.
  • Understanding of the term “mis en place”.
  • Familiarity with basic kitchen policy and procedures (opening/closing lists, cleaning lists, prep lists).
  • Familiarity with filling out temperature logs for food and equipment.
  • Ability to calibrate a thermometer.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
  • Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Ability to use miscellaneous software and office equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions as given.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary training a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Providing exceptional, consistent culinary service to members and residents.
  • Working collaboratively with front and back of the house team members.
  • Ensuring compliance with Senior Living Communities’/Wellmore standards for quality, presentation, and portion control.
  • Adhering to all proper handling, HACCP, labeling, and storage protocols for all foods.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant food service regulations.
  • Following all safety protocols and consistently practicing a culture of safety.
  • Maintaining documentation of temperature charts and records.
  • Maintaining open communication and professional working relationships with all community departments and Home Office support teams.
  • Actively participating in planning and production meetings with the team.
  • Attending and actively participating in required in-service training and education programs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned and directed by the Executive Chef or Director of Dining Services.
