The Cook is responsible for preparing recipes and food items in accordance with the culinary leadership requirements. This role involves preparing menu items at an assigned station and assisting in others when needed. The cook will participate in all methods of production line cooking and assembling, including the operation of grill, fryer, broiler, oven, and other cooking and processing food service equipment. Proficiency in cold food preparation, dressings, and breading is essential. The cook must be able to evaluate the need for preliminary preparation and complete tasks in a timely manner, ensuring accurate ingredient supply levels and evaluating product freshness, quality, and food safety. This role also includes restocking stations, maintaining required par levels of food items, and ensuring a sanitary and organized work area. Proper care, storage, use, and cleaning of all tools and equipment are critical, as is following proper zoning procedures. Competent product knowledge, including correct storing and handling of perishables, is required to maintain quality, security, value, and integrity. Food products must be prepared according to standard recipes and specifications, with positive responses to training. Effective communication with team members and adherence to Family Style service standards are expected. The cook will verbally acknowledge leadership instructions and respond professionally. Daily cleaning of deep fryers, walk-ins, reach-ins, hoods, floors, floor mats, garbage cans, ceiling tiles, air vents, table bases, smokers, warmers, pantry stations, hot lines, speed racks, mixers, stainless steel tables, table ovens, and pizza ovens is a key responsibility. Accountability for meeting or exceeding State of Iowa and Company sanitation requirements (Serv-Safe) is essential. Support for safety and accident prevention programs, including non-slip footwear, knife handling, and proper lifting, is required. Adherence to garbage separation and disposal standards is also necessary. Other duties as assigned will be performed.
