About The Position

The Restaurant Lead Server at Maverick Casino & Hotel Elko is responsible for greeting customers, describing specials, taking orders, serving guests, and cleaning and resetting tables. This role also assists with inventory, training, and maintaining operational standards within the restaurant.

Requirements

  • Six months to one year of experience as a food server in a high-volume full-service restaurant.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Upbeat and positive personality, patient and warm demeanor.
  • Must be a team player with the desire to assist all co-workers.
  • Quick learner.
  • Ability to carry trays with food or dishes weighing 10 to 20 pounds, balanced on one shoulder for approximately 20 to 30 feet.
  • Ability to memorize daily specials and answer questions concerning casino promotions.
  • Maintain a clean uniform and personal appearance.
  • Must be punctual and have reliable attendance.
  • Must adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Must be able to pass an online class for Safe Serve Food Handler’s card.
  • Ability to write and speak fluent English.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Ability to use simple math.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests with a smile.
  • Suggest food and beverage selections, including up-selling using suggestive selling techniques.
  • Describe tastes and textures of menu items in detail.
  • Communicate with kitchen and co-workers regarding wait times, re-cook orders, and any food allergies or dietary needs.
  • Place all orders into the computer system in a timely manner.
  • Serve and clean tables efficiently.
  • Anticipate guest needs.
  • Perform side work at the start and end of each shift.
  • Sincerely thank all guests and welcome them back.
  • Take customer orders for food and beverage.
  • Serve food and beverage in a cheerful, efficient manner according to standards.
  • Remove used plates as soon as customers have finished eating.
  • Maintain customer service standards applicable in the restaurant.
  • Maintain strict confidence regarding company-related matters.
  • Comply with company and department policies and procedures.
  • Clock in and out on time according to the work schedule.
  • Maintain personal hygiene standards.
  • Keep work station and floor stations as clean as possible at all times.
  • Train new team members (Servers, Hosts, and Bussers).
  • Maintain Cleaning Logs and uphold sanitizing processes.
  • Review and adjust schedules as needed, and request staff be called in with F&B Manager approval.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and request orders for FOH needs (Paper products, bottled sauces, etc.).
  • Expedite and assist servers as Lead during Rush periods.
  • Implement and uphold Pre-Shift meetings for PM staff.
  • Uphold team members to Company Policy, bringing disciplinary actions to F&B Manager for follow-up.
  • Manage the flow of the Restaurant to ensure each guest receives proper service.
  • Perform related and/or any other job duties as required.
