About The Position

The Restaurant Hostess/Host is responsible for supervising restaurant activities in the absence of the Manager. This role involves controlling the reservation book, accepting and accurately entering reservations, and maintaining guest history files to enhance the repeat guest experience. The Hostess/Host will assign work stations, conduct pre-meal inspections of the dining room and service areas, and ensure all tasks are completed before the start of a meal period. They will also maintain guest records, inspect menus for cleanliness, greet guests professionally, determine guest needs, verify table availability, and assign appropriate tables. Additionally, the Hostess/Host will guide guests to their tables, assist with seating, present menus, ensure removal of unnecessary place settings, notify servers of guest seating, and communicate any special needs or requests. This role also includes monitoring dining room activity, assisting Servers and Assistants as needed, assigning post-meal side work, and ensuring the dining room and service areas are inspected for completion of tasks. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects menus to ensure cleanliness and acceptability
  • Greets guests in a polite professional manner
  • Determines guest needs, verifies table availability, assigns appropriate table for seating
  • Guides guests to appropriate table
  • Assists guests with seating, and presents menu
  • Ensures removal of unnecessary place settings at occupied tables
  • Notifies server of guest seating, and communicates any special needs or requests
  • Inspects dining room appearance constantly, assigns correction of deficiencies to appropriate team member
  • Monitors dining room activity, assists Servers and Assistants as needed to ensure performance to standard
  • Assigns post meal side work, inspects dining room and service areas to ensure completion of all tasks
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Promotes and applies teamwork skills at all times
  • Notifies appropriate individual promptly and fully of problems and/or unusual matters of significance
  • Is polite, friendly, and helpful to guests, management and fellow team members
  • Executes emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards
