Restaurant Host (La Boucherie) - InterContinental Los Angeles
About The Position
Welcome guests to restaurant, seat them, and create reservations. The InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown is the tallest building west of Chicago and an architectural icon of luxury hospitality. It features 889 guest rooms, multiple culinary venues including La Boucherie (an elegant American steakhouse with a French twist), Lobby Bar, and Spire 73 (the tallest open-air rooftop bar in the Western Hemisphere). The hotel is LEED-Gold certified and has received numerous awards. La Boucherie is a Michelin Guide recommended restaurant. The hotel also offers extensive meeting and event spaces, a fitness center, and a sky lobby.
Requirements
- Basic reading, writing and math skills
- 6 months food service experience
- Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds (plates, utensils, menus, etc.)
- Handling food objects, products and utensils
- Using a keyboard
- Bending, stooping, kneeling
- Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests, wait staff, cooks, and supervisor.
- Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government agency.
- Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when taking orders, completing paperwork, etc.
- Basic math skills are frequently used when handling cash and credit, quantities, and variances.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests in a prompt and courteous manner; seat guests ensuring a balanced workload among servers.
- Maintain accurate waiting list as needed.
- Alert guests when table is available.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
- Process reservations.
- Answer service phone and process reservations.
- Practice up-selling techniques.
- Routinely clear and reset tables and assist with opening tasks such as assigning stations to servers.
- Handle guest complaints and special requests.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
