About The Position

This role is responsible for operating the cash register, handling customer transactions, maintaining inventory, and ensuring a pleasant atmosphere for guests. The position involves direct customer interaction, problem resolution, and adherence to company policies and safety procedures. The Restaurant Host also plays a role in promoting casino events and collaborating with Casino Hosts to meet guest needs.

Requirements

Must be 21 years of age.
Read, write legibly, understand, and speak English.
Excellent customer service/communication skills.
Must have food service knowledge in order to prepare and maintain food items within property guidelines to include health and safety.
Knows cocktail ingredients and proper mixing and pouring techniques.
Available to work required schedule which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy.

Responsibilities

Operates cash register and properly settles checks.
Greets and rings all customer checks on cash register, takes money from customer and accurately gives change back to customer.
Accurately maintains balance of cash register and restaurant checks.
Inventories stock, fills requisitions, and communicates with the kitchen and beverage department to maintain proper levels of foods and beverages.
Records all tips collected from credit cards, comps, and room charges.
Handles and solves customer concerns and questions.
Monitors, prepares, displays, and maintains food items to ensure presentation and freshness.
Operates and maintains all equipment and utensils in accordance with established guidelines and safety procedures.
Maintains, cleans, organizes, and stocks prep area in accordance with property guidelines, including health and safety.
Maintains a comfortable atmosphere by monitoring temperature, maintaining furniture arrangement, dusting/cleaning surfaces, vacuuming floors and rugs, and cleaning windows.
Ensures all reading literature provided for guests is current.
Monitors and maintains bathroom cleanliness and supplies.
Monitors guest consumption of alcohol and intervenes as needed.
Serves as an ambassador of goodwill, appears in publicity photos.
Promotes casino events and programs.
Works closely with Casino Hosts to prepare for and accommodate guest needs.
Works well with others.
Provides personalized service and uses guest name.
Resolves service problems according to guidelines.
Adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner.
Serves as an outstanding example and a credit to Downstream Casino Resort.
