About The Position

This dual-role position involves responsibilities as a Restaurant Host and a Shift Manager. The primary role of the Restaurant Host is to provide fast, friendly, and courteous service to guests, managing reservations, greeting and seating guests, and handling inquiries. This role requires strong public interaction skills, clear English communication, attention to detail, and the ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, turning, bending, lifting, and carrying. The Shift Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of restaurants on a shift-by-shift basis. All duties must be performed in accordance with Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies, procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
High school diploma or equivalency required.
Minimum two (2) years of food and beverage supervisory experience.
Must have general knowledge of all phases of full-service dining.
Excellent interpersonal, customer service, communication, coaching, team building, and problem-solving skills required.
Must be computer literate, including a working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications as well as restaurant automated systems.
Must possess excellent communication skills.
Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.

Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.

Medium work: Exerting up to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to fifty (50) pounds of force frequently, and/or up to twenty (20) pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
Must maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly, and courteous service of food and beverage to all guests.
Report to work well-groomed, in full uniform, and on time.
Be hospitable, friendly, and polite with all guests, co-workers, and management using positive body language.
Be familiar with all check and cashing procedures, including the POS system.
Maintain records on established time sheets.
Be knowledgeable of Seneca Gaming Corporation’s history, property map, location of restrooms and telephones, and hours of operation for stores and restaurants, and efficiently handle guest inquiries.
Take comp and VIP reservations.
Answer telephone calls appropriately according to procedure, answer all inquiries, and report any compliments or problems to the shift manager.
Promote positive customer relations at all times.
Clean and organize all host areas ongoing as needed.
Review all server stations and shifts upon the start of the work shift.
Maintain full knowledge of the menu, wine lists, and daily specials.
Have a consistent awareness of all activities occurring in each section and visibly monitor service and performance of each server.
Greet all guests within five (5) seconds in a friendly and courteous manner using positive body language.
Properly clear and reset tables according to the host manual.
Complete designated opening and closing side work daily and check with the manager or shift manager before leaving.
Perform any duties assigned by the manager or shift manager.
Assist all other employees in performing their duties whenever required.
Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy, and comply with all information security policies and procedures at all times.
Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicate in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times.
Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
Attend all necessary meetings.
Train all associates in the restaurants to perform their job duties to meet or exceed performance objectives for their position; provide tools and supplies needed.
Evaluate and direct personnel, and provide disciplinary action when needed.
Ensure that all products served meet the established specifications and standards.
Participate in weekly management meetings.
Maintain constant control of situations in the restaurant, including handling guest complaints, employee complaints, and other encountered problems.
Report any incidents to appropriate Supervisors.
Assure prompt, professional service to all guests.
Approach tables and speak with guests to obtain feedback about their dining experience.
Handle administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, filing, personnel maintenance, and HR issues.
Advise the Restaurant Room Manager and/or the Restaurants Manager of daily problems and needs; utilize all available resources to maximize profits.
Complete daily reports, including the Daily Manager Report and any Incident Reports.
Prepare necessary paperwork and order supplies and equipment needed for an efficient, customer-oriented operation.
Communicate regularly with associates and keep them informed on all Casino Activities and events; act as a liaison between management and associates.
Ensure that staff behavior and appearance are in compliance with established standards.
Share accountability for achieving cost goals, labor, and expenses.
