About The Position

The Restaurant Cook is responsible for preparing menu items accurately and efficiently according to established recipes and standards. This role involves working in various areas of the kitchen, including meats, vegetables, bakery, and salads, and requires the ability to maintain stock levels, ensure food quality, and keep the work area clean and organized. The cook must also be able to transition knowledge to the next shift and complete operational checklists.

Requirements

  • Speak and understand conversational English.
  • Read menus in English, including comprehension of basic measurements and equivalents.
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently, effectively, accurately, and quickly.
  • Maintain stock of menu items within the assigned area.
  • Regularly stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, turn, walk, and walk on uneven ground.
  • Ability to carry and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Team lift is required for anything over twenty-five (25) pounds or any awkward lifting.

  • Flexibility to assist in all areas of the back of house when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare menu items for the day accurately and quickly, adhering to projected ratios and by the opening deadline.
  • Visually inspect food, discard any items that do not meet standards, and report discarded items to management.
  • Maintain a clean assigned area and ensure walk-ins and reach-ins are clutter-free.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of all food items and recipes.
  • Assist in all back-of-house areas (salads, meats, vegetables) as needed, including preparation and closing duties.
  • During closing, discard, restock, and maintain all food items.
  • Provide a thorough transition to the next shift, detailing the day's progress, menu items, and completed set-ups.
  • Prepare set-ups, maintain organized walk-ins, and complete cleaning/operational checklists.
  • Adhere to attendance policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, and/or projects as assigned.
